Participants from
other countries are required to get a visa to enter China. A Chinese visa is a
permit issued by the Chinese visa authorities to an alien for entry into , exit
or transit through China. For participating SRDS 2007, you can try to get a
tourist visa (type L) or a business visa (type F).

Tourist/Family
Visit (L) Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing or
visiting family members/friends. It is not difficult to get a tourist visa to
China from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their living countries. The
tourist visa will give you enough duration for attending the conference and
having a post conference tour. In this case, there is no need for you to get
the invitation letter from the conference.
· Business Visa (F) is issued to an alien who is invited to China for a visit, an investigation, a lecture, to do business, scientific-technological and culture exchanges, short-term advanced studies or internship for a period of no more than six months. Invitation letter is required to apply this type of visa.

course, we encourage you to declaim the requirement of invitation letter when
you fill in the on-line registration form.

The Beijing Capital
International Airport (PEK) is one of the most busy airport in the world, and
it is also the main entrance to entering Beijing city. The airport is located
in the northeast of Beijing city, and is about 35-40km away from our conference
venue. The airport is linked to central Beijing by Airport Express buses from
5:30pm to 24:00.
The taxi service is
available 24 hours everyday. To take a taxi, you can go to the taxi station
just outside the terminal and wait for the taxi guide to arrange a taxi for
you. You are advised not to take any car or taxi other than from the taxi
station, because those cars and taxi are not reliable. The distance from the
airport to the venue is around 35-40km (about 40minutes drive), and the taxi
fare is around 80-100 Chinese Yuan (RMB).
If you are in the
same hotel with our conference venue, to make it easy for you to communicate
with the taxi driver, we have prepared an English Chinese card of simple
conversation with taxi drivers. Please print the following card and take it
with you when you come to Beijing. Just show it to the taxi driver.

Weather in Beijing
The climate in
Beijing is of the continental type. The autumn begins from late Augues to early
November. October is the most beautiful comfortable and beautiful season in
Beijing. It is warm and dry. The temperature in October is about 15-25 Celsius
Degree and 59-77 Fahrenheit Degree.
Time Difference
The time zone of
Beijing city is GMT+8. We do not apply the day-light
saving regulation.
Currency
Only Chinese Yuan can
be used in mainland China, including Beijing City. You are advised to change
the money before you start your trip. You can find currency exchange services
